Features
From dodWiki
Dawn of Demise uses SMAUG 1.4a MUD codebase. However, many features have been added (and removed) since DoD was originally put up in March of 1998.
Here's a list of features that separates the DoD MUD from the stock SMAUG MUD :
- Advancement to level 100
- Dual classing. (Coded by Gangien)
- Pets gain experience and level just like player characters. (Coded by Minex)
- An automated quest system with automated rewards. (Coded by Minex)
- An automated purchase system to allow players to buy character and equipment upgrades using glory earned through quests. (Coded by Gangien)
- The monetary system has been changed and is completely balanced. (Coded by Minex)
- An arena that allows any player (including peacefuls) to engage in PvP. Other players can place bets on the match. (Coded by Gangien)
- The psionicist class with an entirely new skillset and the psi stat. (Coded by Minex and Gangien. Idea by Eldernyn)
- A statistics gathering mechanism using a MySQL backend to generate a Top 10 list on various attributes. (Coded by Minex and Chokmah)
- A mapping system to generate an overhead map. Immortals have unrestricted use of this command while players have limited use of this feature using various skills. (Coded by Wietbier)
- Ability scores are randomly generated during character creation. (Coded by Minex)
- Four new races for the Angel and Demon class -- Baatezu, Tanarri, Eladrin, and Aasimon. (Coded by Minex)
- New spells that affect an entire room (or even roam through different rooms) that persist over time.
- New trap creation skills for the assassin class. (Coded by Gangien)
- An improved practice command that allows you to see a subset of spells, skills, weapon proficiencies, or tongues.
- No deathtraps. We feel that players should not be irreparably penalized for exploring.
- The control weather spell has been modified to allow the caster to change individual aspects of the weather.
